Do I know what I am  talking about?

When my mother was pregnant with me, she became mentally ill. Except for some frightening short episodes, I did not live with her. My father, a young intellectual struggling to survive in post-war Germany, was not ready to raise a baby on his own. I spent my childhood being transferred from group home to group home, in the temporary care of foster parents and aunts (those were the best times), and later, I lived for 9 years with a highly volatile stepmother. I am still at a loss of words when somebody asks me about my "family".

My Professional background:

I am a certified
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner and a writer. In Germany, I studied literature and philosophy, and graduated from the German School of Journalism, Munich. I worked as a journalist for a daily newspaper and public Bavarian Television before becoming a published author of novels, young adult and children's books, and self-help non-fiction. After marrying an American, I moved to the United States in 1993, and now live with my husband Lary and cat Bani in Tallahassee, Florida.

In 2003 I self-published my first book in English: "THE HEART JOURNAL - A Spiritual Workbook". In 2006  "THE MISSING MOTHER HANDBOOK - How to heal childhood abandonment and rejection with Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)" followed as an eBook.

I have been educating myself for many years in the area of spirituality, psychology, alternative health (Reiki), myths and fairy tales. When I came in contact with Gary Graig's EFT, a form of emotional acupressure, I knew I had found my healing grail. The first session I experienced as a client took me right back to the time around my birth and the deep feeling of abandonment connected with it. I experienced an emotional release that years of psychotherapy (as valuable as it was) could not accomplish.

What is EFT?
